Gameplay is pretty unique with Blade and Soul
Before I give you my honest opinion of the game, I would just like to say, I am not a fanboy of this game. I love gaming and as such, I expect my games to be good and if there is anything a game does badly, I am not shy to talk about it. I have taken part in countless betas and alphas for videos games of multiple genres, not just MMO’s, so I would like to think I am giving an honest and well formed review of this game for the build that I was able to play during CBT2. Getting back to CBT2 now, this time round I decided to focus on one class and just play the game like it would if it was released and see how it stacks up against other games in its category.
“We really want players playing together at all times. The less we divide them the better,” he said. “By having this currency we let free players engage with the shop, and what’s really important here is that the items in the free shop are not worse. We want players to have access to the same stuff.” That stuff also includes regular content updates. Currently, the Asian version of Blade And Soul features six story acts. The Blade And Sale NA release will include the first three at launch, with the remaining three released on a schedule based on player engagement.
Gameplay is pretty unique with Blade and Soul. You can use what they call the Blade and Soul version where your mouse controls the camera and your abilities are keys surrounding your typical W,A,S,D movement, or you can customize the controls to your liking. They are also pretty smart in adding a gamepad option for those who play games with a gamepad like myself at times. Blade & Soul's Founders Pack are currently available for purchase and will allow entry into the closed beta test that's scheduled to kick off during the fall, with the full Western launch of Blade & Soul planned for Q1 2016.
I have tried all three methods for playing the game but find the original Blade and Soul option to be the best fit, however I really did enjoy using the gamepad for a little bit, but some of the functions of using the menus to access things like your inventory, quest log or special icons became very difficult to use and in the end I ended up using my mouse and keyboard to utilize those functions anyway. With gameplay options like this it leads to a more flexible environment for everyone, making each gamer a happy gamer.
Blade & Soul takes a third person approach to the graphics of the game, as players battle one another for either the Crimson Legion or the Cerulean Order. Each player first picks which side they want to be on, and then the race and class they want to play as. Each race and class have different abilities that can be enhanced as they play rounds through the game. The game has a skill tree that allows the players to improve. The skills a player applies to their character can be focused upon, improved, and increased in power and impact. And by specializing one’s focus, even those of the same class can call upon vastly different abilities.
On the 18th of August there will be Founder’s packs available that you can buy in order to get access to the closed beta of the game this fall and other useful items that you will get when the game becomes live. You have the Initiate, Disciple and Master. More information about these packs can be found on the official page here. In the beginning they look expensive but you do get a lot in return. When you buy the Master pack, you’ll have access to exclusive cosmetic stuff (costume, weapon skin…), titles, character slots but you also get a large amount of Coins. So you’ll definitely get your value out of the pack.
